Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

Plaza OB/GYN provides patients with a minimally-invasive laparoscopically-assisted hysterectomy for faster recovery.

Plaza OB/GYN is proud to offer a laparoscopically-assisted vaginal hysterectomy at our state-of-the-art facility at the Binz Surgery Center. During our minimally-invasive laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH), our physicians safely remove the uterus and ovaries through the vagina with the aid of a laparoscope.

Reasons for a Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

Using a minimally-invasive laparoscope, our doctors safely remove the uterus through the vagina. Compared to traditional abdominal hysterectomies, the minimally-invasive operation is relatively painless with faster recovery times. As women age, health complications and symptoms can start consideration for a laparoscopic hysterectomy. Some of the symptoms and reasons for this procedure include:

Before the procedure, women may choose to keep or remove the ovaries. If the patient chooses to remove them, it can lead to premature menopause, hormonal changes, hot flashes, or other symptoms. The added operation is not mandatory and is entirely up to the patient.

Benefits of a Laparoscopically Assisted Hysterectomy

As laparoscopically assisted hysterectomies become more prevalent and advanced, they host a multitude of advantages compared to previous forms of hysterectomies. Some of the benefits of our procedure include:

  • Minimally-invasive procedure and tools
  • Relatively pain free
  • Short hospital stay and quick recovery time
  • No scars or visible marks
  • Improved sex life

Traditional hysterectomies often make large incisions through the abdominal area to remove the uterus. Patients have longer hospital stays as well, and recovery time can take many weeks. Additionally, recovery time can be painful for some patients.

At Plaza OB/GYN, our expert doctors are highly-experienced with laparoscopically assisted hysterectomies. To learn more about our services, contact us to know more.
